Akanna means “In the Hands of God,” and from the very beginning, this company has been guided by faith, purpose, and a calling to help people live better, build stronger, and create lasting legacy.

The idea for Akanna was given to CEO Melissa Boston while she was sitting on a plane preparing to attend a funeral. At the time, she was already leading another multi-million dollar wellness company and had no plans to launch a new business. But what began as an unexpected idea quickly became what the team recognized as a gift from God.

A few weeks later, Melissa saw a major shift happening in the wellness industry. People were no longer just looking for products. They were looking for answers, access, prevention, freedom, and a better way to live. With the blessing to pursue her new vision, she shared the idea with one of her business partners — and Akanna was born.

Today, Akanna is entering a new day.

We are no longer just a wellness company. Akanna is a membership experience built around health, wealth, freedom, lifestyle, and legacy. After studying how the ultra-wealthy are investing in biohacking, longevity, life extension, technology, and personalized wellness, we made a decision: access like this should not only be reserved for billionaires. Akanna has invested hundreds of thousands of dollars into creating a pathway for everyday people to experience tools, education, and services that may have once felt unattainable.

Melissa Boston-Atoyebi is a transformational leader with over 30 years of experience in the direct sales industry. As the CEO of Akanna, she has built a thriving wellness brand that has served over 34,000 customers and empowered more than 4,000 distributors across the United Sates. A visionary entrepreneur, Melissa has helped launch multiple wellness startups and has served on executive leadership councils for top global companies, contributing to the success of several multi-billion-dollar brands; building her business in more than 46 countries.

But Melissa’s most powerful mission was born from personal adversity.

After surviving two near-death experiences, Melissa began searching for deeper answers about healing, prevention, and the unique way the body is designed. What she discovered changed everything: knowing your blood type could be one of the most important keys to understanding how you eat, live, heal, and feel.

As a Blood Type A, Melissa later realized she had unknowingly spent years eating and living in ways that were better suited for her Blood Type O mother — following well-meaning advice that did not fully align with her own biology. That revelation exposed the danger of one-size-fits-all wellness and ignited her passion for helping others discover what their bodies truly need before problems begin.

Today, Melissa is on a mission to educate and empower millions through blood type-based wellness, prevention, Blue Zone-inspired living, and access to tools that support longevity, healing, and legacy. She is the author of The Proverbs Diet and the newly released P.R.O.V.E.R.B.S. D.I.E.T.: Power in the Blood — groundbreaking works rooted in faith, science, scripture, and real-world transformation.
